The Cloak of Burden On the horizon ominous clouds appear A bitter wind whips and blows Casting confusing thoughts of forlorn Wary to breathe of aching painful woes Drowning in a whirlpool of darkness Slipping further into an abyss A peacock mask to wear and display Brilliant colors, a depiction of bliss Hands pressing against the emptiness An invisible barrier for those confined Secure within familiar surroundings Visions harbored in ones own mind Somewhere within lays a beating heart Hiding from the truth, lost in turmoil’s plight Buried deep to shield the pain Bracing, no longer ready for flight Whispering softly hoping to be heard The familiar words forever lost A fridge breeze comes callously by Chilling my heart, a hardened frost A lone rose wilting Beneath a harsh star Rainbow on a horizon Wait, wait it is not far In darkness a light appears Deep within the pit of despair Gathering strength, I climb my way out Shedding this cloak of burden I bear07-06-00, Written March 25th, 2002 © on Mar 25 2002 10:36 AM PST   18 • 0 • 12
