A Tear is a Tear
By 78harley
A tear is a tear I look into your eyes and see not a glimpse Of the river of emotion banked behind Your floodgate Mine flow so freely Attacking your solidity with violent hope Of finding a crack in the wall It took years for you to build A tear is a tear Can you not feel my moisture Extending a lubricant to your parched heart? Can you not fall upon my gift Without fear of reprisal or pain? Can you not allow me inside to help heal you? Can you not try to forget? A tear is a tear You witness my emotions disrobing And say naught, as I stand naked in front of you but you cover me with your battle worn blanket You hold me in distant but smothering arms You let me feel the wetness of my tears as you remain detatched from a fear that they may splash upon your heart A tear is a tear In the pool of water I have shed I will look for your reflection Bending over to grasp my being with your lips I will look at your want with mine I will look deeply into your eyes I will find the tears at the bottom of your dry well And then I will guide you to their peace Written September 11th, 2001 © on Sep 11 2001 05:29 AM PST 0 • 8
