To My Lost Love

Clouds gather and dodge the rays of sunthat warm the ground I stand upon. They alert me with foreboding darkness, and send a slight shiver through my contentmentUpon the breeze, I hear your voice whisper to me.Languidly, you begin to take over my solace stirring embers that settled upon the hearth of my history. The path I walk upon becomes illusory as your scent waft around me, taunting my senses, finding the keyhole on the door I locked behind you.Memories come to mind;Your soft words, addicting touch, sensual eyeswane with the spontaneity of the wind.Questions come forward, When, why and how I lost youare battered out of hiding by ancient rain.Old apprehensions tingle and look me blatant and full facedas I acknowledge turmoil in the wake. The storm is unyielding as it whisks aside sensibilities appeal. My eyes release my minds confusion in a gushing waterfall. Its eruption cascades down the familiar trail to join the river of tears now rising at my feet.I become submerged in its undercurrent.I cannot escape your profilewatching me from within the salty water's domain.Your eyes full of compassion,Your lips forming words of query,Your beauty taunting me as I grasp for air.A lightening bolt strikes my soulilluminating visions lost. Our shared dreams made from spoken and unspoken promisesbring forward a jolt of a forgotten laughwhich crashes in my ears and sends me reeling to my knees. Our passion’s raw thunder begins to rumble deep and steady and unyielding. Its pulsated throbbing quickens and its strength becomes deadly.I catapult myself away from it to look at us from another dimension. My dream suddenly faces realityWe are no longer one.We… are no longer.Slowly….The storm in my heart begins to dieIts aftermath is kind and calmness falls upon my weary mind.I survived…and no longer desire nor need to query our demiseIt was meant to be this way…..that is all.A fresh scent of rebirth covers the soaked ground. As it settles into the parched soil, the earth again finds it’s own.Raindrops cling to the branchesas my tears still lay upon my cheek, It is then that I realize…I will also find my own.
