I Am Here For You

I was a child when I first saw you The sparkle in your eyes and your bright giggle drifted into my world,innocently And bonded with my young life's desire To find the ideal best friend We soon became inseparable Never leaving the other, In thought or in heart, My secrets became yours As yours did mine Our days were filled with delight And our friendship established its foundation When my childhood tragedies took their toll You were there, by my side Taking my hand and looking at me And you would say to me, gently "Your eyes are closed, but I know your heart sees me" Hearing those words beckoned my eyes to open To look into the loving light of your friendship.
