Former Goddess

By Abyssia

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Tonight the world made a crash landing, Leaving me bare for all to see. Even the shadows of night could not Protect me from my nakedness, My impurity. Gawking stares of judgement, Reflected in the eyes of those Who could never understand Tore through my heart, my mind To leave an unhealing wound. Formerly a goddess, striped down To worse than nothing -- A mutant, a whore, and unworthy Of forgiveness, of love, or even a Cloth to hide behind. Run for your lives, save the women and children; The beast will suck you in, chew your bones, And spit you out again -- for nothing has changed Really, except for the illusion. Once a siren, now spawn of Satan. But you - When the rest ran for cover Your eyes saw no change. You knew from the beginning ... And loved me regardless. The moral of the story: hold on to those who will accept you for who you really are, and screw the rest. Okay so this wasn't my best by far, but I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. ;) Written March 3rd, 2002 © on Mar 03 2002 03:12 AM PST   0 • 10
