Immortal Elegance
By Abyssia
Blast gracefully out of my home, Undaunted by the terrors above. Feel the warm air rush by As momentum pushes towards The shimmering heavens. Lifted on a wave of nirvana. To stay here, though tempting, Would suffocate and demise. Come crashing down in splendor, Break through the surface; Settle once again into a comfort zone. Drawn back into the depths of sobriety. Slice peacefully through my domain - Ecstasy and nostalgia keep me company. Pine for what could never be; Haunted by the memory of what almost was If only for a moment. Anchored by a tide of remorse. Struggling against self-induced restraint Inhibitions grow dim. Addiction returns with a vengeance - Overwhelming, this urge to retreat. Patience fails, the lull subsides. Sailing for the stars again. Trespass and reach for the unfamiliar. Take sinful pleasure in Outraged cries of those envied. Blistering heat and joy combine And charisma leads me back satisfied. So much for unchartered waters. Though cheated by fate These tiny tastes of freedom Carry my soul unbound. Had I joints to do so, My body would kneel in gratitude.... But if elegance were immortal I myself would be a god. Written October 3rd, 2001 © on Oct 03 2001 05:17 AM PST 0 • 12
