Fall from Heaven,(an eagle dives.)
By Andrew Hide
Cold tingles my wing tips, as I coast beneath the sky, to my prey I'm invisible, to be a danger I'm to high. The hare breaks from cover, running at full pelt, I fold my wings into arrows, now the cards are dealt. With speed I fall from heaven, the wind bluring my eyes, I can still see its movement, as I become, black lightening from the skies. Wings open fully wide, to slow my mad descent, my body shakes, straining, all feathers arced and bent. Flight goes horizontal, just inches from the ground, the hare runs in panic now, but no shelter can be found. He tries to change direction, but to turn, he is to swift, my tallons find his hide, as I feel his body lift. Down to the ground, together, where nothing else can see, and with a razor beak, I set his spirit free.
