My Time Here
By Andrew Hide
T'was spring when I was born, and to the sky did reach, I grew so tall and strong, before I ever knew it, spring had been and gone. Summer then did follow, a young girl I did meet, and though we were happy and days were ever-long, before we ever knew it summer had been and gone. Autumn soon did follow but for what did I care, I watched our children growing tall and very strong, then I soon did realise, autumn had been and gone. Now I am in winter, I sit here in my chair, my limbs have all grown spindly, the wind has claimed my hair, but sorrow is not in me, before me lies a door. So please don't mourn my passing, for now I know there's more, and as I go to enter, further can I see, behind this strange barrier, a new spring waits for me.
