The Mask.
By Andrew Hide
"You are always smiling, always happy", people say, "Your happiness is catching, spreading joy throughout the day." But they don't see the tears I hide, I've kept them locked away, my sadness and my sorrow, my hurt in every way. My world is such an empty place, no fun, no joy, no laughter, no dreams, no hope, no reason, no happy ever after. So when you see this smiling face, joyful, laughing, having fun, you only see my mask in place I'm hidden from everyone. For if despair was to spread, like happiness they claim, the world would feel sorrow, and I would die of shame. Written February 11th, 2002 © on Feb 10 2002 11:25 PM PST, Andrew Hide 0 • 1
