The Great Depression (Part I)

By Brad Kelly

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Floats in like paper caught in silent wind, only to remind how lucky I once was. Blue smoke begins to form a halo around my head but breaks when I laugh in exaggerated nepenthe. I walked this same path once before. It may be a little ambiguous but this poem is about turning to drugs in times of sadness (i.e. blue smoke). Nepenthe means a sense of pleasing forgetfullness.
