Wishing Wells

By Brad Kelly

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I jump into wishing wells hoping for pocket change to buy marijuana or a sandwich Instead I find the active wishes of a hundred random pedestrians: Forlorn wishes for love, for unattainable world peace, a desperate wish for insight, underneath my foot Numerous, hopefully unfulfilled wishes for a million dollars or a menage trois. I step out of the wishing well still hungry. and now confused. Written February 16th, 2002 © on Feb 16 2002 04:57 AM PST   17 • 0 • 9
