A Cooper's Odor
By cdcooper
When a man smelled like a trade I had the odor of charred rosewood With the scent of copper oxide. If I was really good, I could add the fragrance of a fine vintage wine Or the frigid aroma of a refreshing monk's beer. But if I was bad, I would have to settle for the stench of vinegar Or even worse, the common smell of Norwegian fish.. With the boys Life is lived in a freeform style. Leaving me to be the annoying scent of scotch-broom And the sarcastic smell Of last night's economical adult beverage. Even though I masked it with an aborted Irish Spring shower. I find my aftershave only complicates it. With the wife I smell of sweet molasses Warm angel food cake iced with chocolate mousse And slices of strawberries. My breath is the reverent whiff of antiseptic Lysol. And my comments are the amazing bouquet Of lemon fresh Pledge. How do I smell right now? Who's asking?
