Apology By Christopher Cooper I didn't mean to lead you on. Even though Our soft cotton cheeks have pressed together And the tops of our breasts caress each other's From the enfolding of our arms. I never thought I would make your thighs moist Or your flesh tingle with obsession From a friendly embrace. Such love for me is found only in fantasy Not in a town of ninety-seven. Embers now fill my children's ears And my husband withholds his sandpaper kisses After overhearing the stories From around unseen corners.
