A simple Tree
By Dragonpoet
A simple tree I may be With limbs stretched wide and far, But here I stay, perched upon my hill, Watching God's children hither and dither, Enjoying my simple gifts. A simple tree I may be Made of oak through and through With leaf's of green or gold in fall, But here I stay, perched upon my hill, Watching the seasons come and go. A simple tree I may be With rings foretelling time But here I stay, perched upon my hill, Remembering all that has been, And all that will be. A simple tree I may be With my face smooth or rough, But here I stay, perched upon my hill, Recording all I see and hear, Never uttering a word. A simple tree I may be With no voice to whisper my tales, But here I stay, perched upon my hill, Watching all of God's children, Knowing I am who I am.
