Am I to blame?

By Dragonpoet

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Feeling confused, lost and scared, Spinning back the wheel of time, Attempting to understand why, Why it all had to be this way, Was it me, am I to blame? A child unwanted, unneeded, A child to care for, Stealing youth and dreams, The child I was, Was it me, am I to blame? Wanting to change the past, To remove the stain I placed, Attempting to correct the mistakes, To undo what has been, And yet, was it me, am I to blame? Watching my own children, Hearing their laughter, Wandering if all is okay, Knowing if it isn’t, Then I am to blame? Glancing at my husband, Wondering what regrets he holds, If life is all he dreamed of, Knowing if it isn’t, Then is it me, am I to blame?
