Fall from Grace

By Dragonpoet

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Blinded by my own selfish torment, Allowed myself to be seduced, To fall far from grace, To tumble into the dark depths, Seeking comfort in the bottom of a bottle, Believing it was where I needed to be. I knew the spiraling danger I entered, But I sought no comfort, no reasons, Only the need to flee, to escape, To forget, to remember nevermore, And thus, now I stand with head bowed, Knowing the shame I place upon myself. I knew the dangers, the fear, And Yet, I still fell, Falling far from grace, Allowing myself to be my demon, Allowing it freedom, And now, I stand so very shakily, Facing the truth of my stipudity, Knowing I can't take it back... I fell from grace, Bowed to the strength of my demons, Accepting their answer for my plight, And now, I sit in the darkness, lost in the night, Fearing the light of dawn... I fell far from grace Drowning in the bottom of a bottle... Written December 16th, 2001 © on Dec 15 2001 11:05 PM PST   18 • 0 • 10
