The castle on the hill
By Dragonpoet
He had a castle upon a hill, A home of brick and mortar With a queen he adorned And knights he commanded All handed to him upon a silver platter. The pheasants all adorned him, Honoring him, following him blindly, But an evil settled upon the land, With the heavens thunderous roar, And rain tumbled forth, Leaving little in its wake. The pheasants called to their king, Begging for his deliverance from evil, But upon his castle on the hill, He danced, pranced, and played, Thinking not of those beneath him. He stood so tall and proud, No fear did he display As fiends spread upon his land, Hunting down his knights, one by one, And spreading plague across his land. His tears began to fall, And he remembered his place As his castle began to tumble, Fumbling for his sword and shield, No knights stood beside him. A castle upon the hill, And riches lined his pockets, Saved him not at all, As all he held dear Crumbled to his royal feet. With tears in his eyes, No queen to hold, No royal subjects, No knights to command, No pheasants to adorned him, He laid down his sword and shield, A king no more.My first attempt at a story like poem, not sure if I succeeded or not. Like here your thoughts on it. Thanks. Written November 25th, 2001 © on Nov 25 2001 06:05 AM PST 0 • 1
