Galileo's Legacy
By edenbak
Galileo with his telescope, scouring the yonder for the face of God, mining for blueprints of his architecture, to expose the majesty of the universe. Man could never comprehend with simple mind, planets floating flawlessly in the cosmos. Galileo never asked for more, than a glimpse of God’s mighty mystery. Each step forward revealing the sky-scraping greatness of the almighty. His spyglass an appendage of his faith, proving to all how miniature humanity is. Poor Galileo never could conceive, that the Lord in the heavens would pack his bags, for the cogs and wheels of man’s creations. Technology no longer the sponsor of holiness, but usurper of the throne of divine spirit. The purveyor of faith becoming the faith. If this is god then he is vengeful, for helplessly man is ever chained to him, while he blindfolds their eyes from nature’s naked beauty, to scorch and rape her delicate virgin skin. When man placed God in technology, he squeezed the ocean into an ill corked bottle. The new mechanized tower of Babel, a mockery of god and man reaching breakpoint. How long will it be before the cork bursts from the pressure, and the torrential tides of human ignorance let loose, breaking down foundations of this oversimplified deity, to reduce man back to the good and humble Galileo?I guess my poems have been more conroversial lately... I.E. "Happy" meal, and now this. However, this is not and anti-christian or anti-god poem. I think that is obvious, but I just thought i'd be sure to point it out. I'll let you make of it what you want. Enjoy! Written March 22nd, 2002 © on Mar 21 2002 03:37 PM PST 0 • 12
