A Demon's Eyes

By FranticFad

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

A harsh word, a sullen look Like a hammer to my heart Frozen shards of brilliant loss A summer’s hope lies torn, Forever lost Withering before my cold feet Gleaming demon eyes Flashing ruby anger Only they stared back at me From the back of your fleeing car Never you, never, but never you My sorrowed fingers claw The frozen ground, unyielding My burning eyes turn upward To heaven, un-answering The demon’s breath roils A poison cloud of soft disdain Purring evilly at the corner The eyes are gone Night’s silence returns My love has fled Written February 4th, 2002 © on Feb 04 2002 09:23 AM PST   10 • 0 • 1
