Lost in the Gloom
By FranticFad
Shattered into crystal light A piercing howl splits the night It speaks of pain, of hunger and need It crys for comfort and solice, a plead Trembling voice, a call of great fright Her driving need a thing of strange might Trembling hands grasp the cold rail Her dark eyes glitter as she suppresses a wail Gazing off into the pale twilight gloom Afraid to re-enter that cold, empty room Her wan, sallow features tell a sad tale The home that she loved is now but a jail The pulse pounds in her ears, so fast and so hot All of her life is now only one thought How could she put so much into that fool He never quite loved her, she was only his tool No pretty gifts could hide the deep rot Promisses and lies for a love that was not He as never really here, her broken heart cries Never my love or reason she lies Dressed in smooth satins, fragrance and lace Her features are drawn, tangle hair hides her face Broken trust and harsh words have shattered the ties The abused bit of her heart stammers, and dies Written February 8th, 2002 © on Feb 07 2002 11:54 PM PST 10 • 0 • 1
