To Live the Lie

By gregpoet

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I lay beside you full of warmth, and feel a deep and dreadful cold that flows like frosty stream within your veins, within your very heart. A heart that offers not the love I seek, and now I know the truth, I'm moved to weep. But still I want none other by my side and so I cling to this my life, a lie. The lie that keeps me from a truth my aching heart cannot abide. I know that you are gone from me, and that our love can never be. Yet still I beg of you on bended knee, that this, my life, my lie, you never take from me.             Written by Gregory Fitt Written November 10th, 2001 © on Nov 10 2001 02:21 PM PST   18 • 0 • 1
