Wasted Youth

By gregpoet

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Today I saw a young leaf die cut short in prime of life. I saw it lean and twist and sway until from Tree of Life it broke away. It could not halt its wild descent as slowly to its fate it went. It spun and twisted as it fell, forsaking life, embracing hell; my tears I could not quell. Today I saw a young leaf die still green it fell to earth to lie amongst those others on the ground. And as the winds blew them around my heart grew heavy with the truth of having witnessed wasted youth. Today I saw a young leaf die.           Written By Gregory Fitt Written November 6th, 2001 © on Nov 06 2001 11:21 AM PST   18 • 0 • 1
