Drawn (A Pantoum)
I’m unmistakably drawn to you, As if a moth to a flame. My heart does beat true, At the very mention of your name. As if a moth to a flame, Will I be warmed by you? At the very mention of your name, My soul is torn in two. Will I be warmed by you, Gently warmed by your fire? My soul is torn in two, I am filled with desire. Gently warmed by your fire, I long to spread my wings. I am filled with desire, For so many things. I long to spread my wings, Although I fear being burned. For so many things, My heart has truly yearned. Although I fear being burned, I cannot leave this be. My heart has truly yearned, So please come fly with me. I cannot leave this be, I’m unmistakably drawn to you. So please come fly with me, My heart does beat true.First attempt at this style of poetry ... I think it needs some work .. but not sure where to start. Any suggestions are appreciated. Written January 23rd, 2002 © on Jan 23 2002 03:06 AM PST 0 • 12
