Haiku Hay-Day
The following are some Haiku I've written under the pressures of extreme ennui. They're not good, but they passed away some of my time, perhaps they'll do the same for you. Concerning 6th Period: Eternal stasis confusion subdues my soul why must I take trig? On 7th Period: Class is very dull I absorb nearby beauty this occupies time Of matters in 8th period: The hour I dread most my wits are ground to nothing the abyss presides Relating an account of a rather special girl: Olive skinned seraph her laughter falls like light rain on my soul's soft shell In regard to a close friend: Steadfast survivor smiling eyes hide quiet strength proud humility Composed for a lost acquaintance: A little cynic laced with simple good nature I still miss her smile Inspired by a great fellow: Maelstrom of knowledge ecstatic vastness of mind kept in modest frame Written because of a missed opportunity: Fire encased in lead fear and hesitation swell the flames slowly die Demonstration of how easy it is to write bad poetry: I sit here at night in front of a glowing box and tap many thoughts Written March 5th, 2002 © on Mar 05 2002 02:25 PM PST 0 • 10
