A Voided Consciousness

By Malveasor

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

A voided consciousness is not to be reprimanded, Insanity is challenging normality Throw massive chunks of earth at those Who freely live in glass houses Awaken from the trance Eyes are upon you to observe Laughter may follow, But from those that are uneducated An echo reverberates through your body “Unworthy, unworthy,” the little echo says A bowed spine to kiss the hand of Criticism; A set of moistened lips to brush its rough skin An unworthy little firefly that shines a dim light; Mentally swatted to and fro For repelling against Satan And falling narrowly from Heaven’s cloud A straight line does not exist Curved reality governs the chasms of your mind But to voice the unknown is a crime People were born as a collective ignoramus Disrupt society with a legion of truth-wielding skeletons Haunt the people with apparitions of their future— The Grip of Death that they cannot refuse For his will outweighs theirs, and for that, they fear your knowledge Is it insane to perceive and accept the truth? Or are you to condition and fill your thoughts with ‘hope’? Dream of rainbows disembarking from clouds above And little proud gnomes that dance around a garden of sprouting fantasies But reality is not calm, or forgiving… Those clouds are filled with a poisonous green hue The rainbows are doubted thoughts of time lingering above And the garden the gnomes dance in consists of human skulls You are not ignorant, insane, or a threat to society Society is a threat to itself Hopefully there are more that share your visions of the truth Yet so long as there are the educated, the uneducated are sure to follow If you are gasping for air beneath the surface of water, I will be there to pull you from the grave But if given the chance… Would you do the same for me? The individual thought is often the educated cell in the collective’s prison.5/5 of a series written in honor of a friend/enemy. Written April 4th, 2002 © on Apr 04 2002 12:29 PM PST   10 • 0
