Smarter Than Thou

"Mortal!  I seek information!" Boomed the arrant Brain Tree With undivided attention To his Greatness I did see "I wish to know..." The Almighty did exclaim "...NOW GO!" He cared not for my name To his will I was a slave; Traveling over the globe, From every sea to every cave... Nothing pleased the Mighty Lobe Noting the path to freedom was not easy-pave: Others for knowledge I began to probe "I know not what you ask," Said the tented Brucey B. "You will fail your task," He then said to me Everywhere I went I got the exact same All cower and pent... My efforts seemed so lame I hung my head low And trekked back to the Brain Interrogator; My footsteps very slow Until I was stopped by the Esophagor "II AMM HUNGGRRYYY," He mentioned without fear I told him I failed the Brain Tree He looked back with a sneer "Feeed mmeee..." He then inquired, coming fully to the surface "What could it be?" I asked him of his purpose "II knooww whhaatt yoouuu sseeek;" It is probably useless, I dared to summize... "Gett mmeee fooodd aand yoouu'll haaavee a peeek;" Caught my ambition by surprise I rushed for the creature's food, Sparing no expense I wanted to please his mood, Maybe he'd also raise my defense? Purchasing what he needed, I hurried back in a flash To him his food I conceded, Not realizing the quests both clash The Esophagor munched away, Then belched with delight My mind set astray For the answer I needed tonight He told me half, Then chuckled with joy He gave me the shaft! It was all a ploy! I acted like a calf, As he played me like a toy "Brrriiingg mmeee mmoorre foood aandd I'lll teelll yooouu moooree," He said with a smile My funds were depleted for sure... I had fallen for his guile There was nothing left to do As I realized something foul, Standing firm, I shouted in shrew... "Brain Tree: the Esophagor is smarter than thou!"This was written for a children's website. Hence, most probably won't know who the characters are in this particular piece. Don't worry about it. :) Written April 7th, 2002 © on Apr 07 2002 11:16 AM PST   0 • 10
