I'm Trying

You have to understand, That I've told you a lot. And you have to understand, That it's not everything. But, I'm trying. You seem to understand, Or at least accept the fact, That I can't show you everything, It just hurts too much. But, I'm trying. You know a lot, More than anyone, It's all coming out now, Faster than I would like to permit. But, I'm trying. I can't make you see, I can't get you to feel, What I've felt, And what I've gone through. But, I'm trying. I know you think that you will understand completely, But I know, that isn't possible. You didn't live those memories, I did, and all I can do is share them. And, I'm trying. All I can do Is tell you what I can But when it gets to be too much, You have to let me stop. Realize, I'm trying. I know you don't want me to hurt, And I know you want to make it go away, But just like you, I scar. And some of the pain will always remain. Know, that I'm trying. There are going to be Rough days ahead. And there are going to be days That all I need is to be held. And I'm trusting you here, Putting my faith in the fact, That you'll be there to hold me. 'Cause I don't know, how much longer I can hold the pain off. And the day is fast approaching, That I'll need your two strong arms, To help me ward it away. But, all I can do now Is tell you what I can But when it gets to be too painful, You have to let me stop... I just hope you know, I'm trying.I'm trying, A, and you're helping. I tried not to push you, and now I have to ask that of you, in return. I wrote this one for you, to get it off my mind, so maybe I'll sleep a little better tonight, knowing that at least you can know, I'm trying.
