Good and Evil

By Morgan LeFay

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Who is it you choose When Love and Lord collide Which evil is the lesser Oblivion or pride On that fateful day So many years ago Lucifer, my only love Claimed our Lord as foe Perhaps his eyes were blinded By the glitter of God's power But I know he never reckoned That his plans would turn so sower I had begged him not to do it Tried to tell him soothing lies And on the day he challenged God He wouldn't meet my saddened eyes So in those days of bloody battle I stood beside my Lord And every night upon that field My Beloved drew hatred as his sword We angels were not meant to die Created to serve the Light But Lucifer cared little And he kept on with the fight Our forces, they were losing And our Lord seemed not to care But we didn't realy understand That his enemy had tripped the snare Now the angel Michael gained the field Our foes knew not their fate And when the slauter had begun It was already to late Then we all rejoiced For the battle we had won There would be no eternal night To block our own God's brilliant sun As for my love, my Lucifer He gathered all his people like scattered bits of sand And they left this place they'd lived in Created their own land He never looked at me Only turned his back and left So on that day of victory and joy I alone was abandoned and bereft Since then I've often wondered Why I chose a god uncaring And left my love in exile His punishment for daringany suggestions to make this even better its one of my favorites and i want to make it perfect----incidently if you like the poem read To Rein in Hell by Steven Brust Written August 8th, 2001 © on Aug 08 2001 12:40 PM PST   0 • 1
