Sounds Of Summer
By Twilah
It's a hot summer day...please imagine if you will, Sounds drifting thru the window, along with different smells; Sitting at the ol 'puter' like I've always done before, Hearing music from 'Ole Blue Eyes'...party next door!! Down the road aways children, playing in the street, Motorcycles 'vrooming'...laughter as old friends meet. Music's getting louder, men now joining in chorus play... Voices raised...slurred words come forth 'I Did It My Way'. Screams coming from over the fence, a group of teens... They're reaching new heights now, on the trampolines. Chicken smells cooked now...appetites have been whet, Tape's being turned over... 'Love And Marriage' yet!! Sounds being carried...heard from blocks away, Stark contrast to life and sounds on a cold winter day; People walking dogs...an occasional bark or two, Screeching of tires...look out! Teenagers riding through!! Male chorus in revue, but not quite singing on key, Getting carried away now...they're drowning out Frankie; Just usual summer happenings in Small Town, America USA; Sounds that seem to linger long after summer fades away.
