Snow Dreams
By Wings
Snow Dreams She sat at the window, watching the snow Dancing a ballet as it fell below. Each flake was different, some big and some small She pondered and studied as she watched the snowfall. Her eyes bright and shiny, her mind quick and keen Some flakes fell as angels, a king and a queen. A princess, a fairy, a clown and a bear, A puppy, a kitten, a doll with curled hair. All molded together, they’d make a great dress. With the color of red to make a red vest. If they had fallen to soon to the ground, That would be perfect, for her shoes could be brown. She looked at the snow and played in her mind. A ribbon a bow and mittens she’d find. Too soon the rain started and the snow went away. She turned from the window to her room with dismay. The walls with no pictures, the floor dusty and bare, A tattered old sofa, broken lamp and a chair. Three beds in a row, all tidy and neat. Three little girls asleep and so sweet. She knelt beside the cot where she’d lay Folded her hands and I heard her say, “ I thank you dear Jesus for the heat and the bread. For the soft pillows where my kids lay their head. Thanks for the people that you’ve sent our way To help us get through, in your name I pray. When she lay down her face wore a smile, Snow dreams were nice, if just for a while.
