A Letter to My Baby (Challenge Poem)

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Dear Baby, I have been dreaming about you for awhile now.  Me and your dad have been discussing your arrival but not yet this soon.  You have decided to join our family ahead of time and we our tickled to death.  You should have seen your dad's face when I yelled down the stairs and said "Ummm there are 2 pink lines!".  That same day we went to the doctor's office to get a blood test done to make sure you did exist.  The 24 hours were the longest I had to wait in my life.  When I did receive the call that I was going to definitely be your mother tears streamed down my face.  For I have never been so happy in my life just to know that I was growing such a precious life inside of me. Everything is so new to us and I have so many questions I wish I could ask you now.  But you have been growing for about 6 weeks and I can't wait to meet you face to face.  We are getting your very first picture in 2 weeks and we will be able to hear your heartbeat.  I can already tell you are going to be like your dad for being so small you create such chaos =)  I wonder what color of hair you will have? Are you a boy or a girl? What color will your eyes be?  Will you have my nose and your father's ears?  Oh my little baby I think about you constantly and reading all the books to prepare a wonderful life for you.  I am already proud of you and when you read this once your older please know that we loved you from the first 2 pink visible lines and WILL always love you no matter who you will become. Love, Your Mommy & Daddy 1-17-02I recently found out that I am pregnant! Our baby is due September 17th. I was going to keep writing letters throughout my pregnancy to keep track of these miraculous events that we are experiencing. Written January 17th, 2002 © on Jan 17 2002 01:18 PM PST   18 • 0 • 8
