This is What I Want

Definition of the person I want to be. When you first learn how to talk I want to be the person who understands that the word nummies means food.  Please God do not let me ever forget these precious memories. When you first learn to walk I want to be the one on the end you are walking and reaching for.  Please God let me be fast enough to catch or balance you so you don’t fall. I want to be the person you cry for when you skin your knee the first time you attempt to ride a bike without training wheels.  Please God don’t let this be the medicine that burns =) I want to be strong the first day I put you on that giant school bus all by yourself.  Please God give me the strength to hold back these tears at least till the bus turns the corner. When you get your license and are driving yourself around I want to be the one who knows where you are going and what time you will be back.  Please God take this worry for me and watch my baby close. And definitely I want to be the one when you come to when your heart has been broken.  Please God give me the wisdom and right words I can say at that moment that will dry those eyes. I want to be the person who taught you how a person should be treated and not to settle for less.  I want to be sitting in the front of the church as proud as can be when that day comes.  Here we go again God, please give me strength and strength and strength through this one. I want to be strong and loving.  I want to be compassionate and trusting. I want to be someone you will never forget for I will never forget the beginning and end of the time I knew you. This is what I want………This was written for a group poem. I didn't have much time to really put this together but I hope you like it.
