Below the Lenses
By zuzus petals
Below the lenses I have seen only brown. But, as I look twice, Or perhaps for the millionth time, I see clouds With milky swirls That bring only darkness. Time has Left those wells to settle And separate; To see, Or to see nothing. It takes all my strength To divert my hands From smoothing out Those liquid-wrinkles. I form reservoirs Of my own And dread the day When they are drained; When the boundaries Between color and white Make my soul Too difficult to navigate, Even for my own Shaky hands. Perhaps below the lenses I will be seen as only brown Until my razor edge Is faded, And a dark and violent storm Can’t even break its surface.I always notice that as people age sometimes their eyes begin to get cloudy...that's where this poem mainly comes from (I guess its mostly about getting closer to death)-zuzu (ps i haven't written in so long...it's good to be back hehe) Written February 4th, 2002 © on Feb 04 2002 01:01 PM PST 10 • 0
