Sometimes (I know I could love this emptiness forever)

By zuzus petals

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Sometimes I wish That if I had a cross, You’d burn it And hold it high. The light would echo Off the trees at night, Leaving me To discard the ashes Of a relic I’ve never really held (Nor cared to). Sometimes I wish That I could see you With eyes untainted, To prove to myself That if I could love this “emptiness”, That you could find Even more for me to hate. Sometimes I wish, That I could return to myself And cry once more, So I know That I cry not for what I see, But for who And what remains no longer. This in NO way is anti-religious...but anti-hate...it says that sometimes I wish that I could see the world "with eyes untainted" so that I know why I believe what I do -ZUZU Written December 23rd, 2001 © on Dec 23 2001 02:47 PM PST   10 • 0
