Julia's Castle
By kvwriter
Julia's Castle To build your castle you took a man, his given name was Fred, And gave to him a brighter life, and a place to lay his head. Then love lights danced about in his eyes and in your soul, Soon the brick was placed, one by one, filling every hole. Sally came into your life and helped to make it strong; You kissed her tears away and helped her to belong. A bit more brick was needed though, as Virgil came to be; You gave to him a tender heart, and a piece of honesty. Soon you felt a gentle tug--a spirit was in need, And as you rocked your newborn son, Roy's spirit had been freed. Although your castle of life had grown, a brick was missing yet; You traveled your castle strong, finding bricks that had not met. So, to Johnny, you gave a song, a melody, soft and sweet. When you patiently glanced again, your castle was complete. You chased their fleeting lives, and eased their burdened fears, You helped them start their own castles to embrace the coming years. You gave, selflessly, of yourself to help their castles grow, If one had a desperate need, your presence they would know. Then you left this world of ours; your work on earth was through. But your legacy lives on; their castles strong because of you. kvwriter a.k.a. Kelly Varner JohnsonThis was written as a Christmas gift from me to a very special grandmother. It was read, outside in the cold, by her fresh grave by my sister. I just couldn't do it. She was a very special woman, and our memories of her are still warm after nearly two decades.
