The Seaside Journey

The Seaside Journey by Kelly Varner Johnson In my youth, I knew laughter, friends and frequent sunfilled days. I knew sand and seashells, surf and wind while tanning near docks and bays. The Fisherman's wharf, the color and mood, were common place to me. All my years, as a military child, I grew up along the endless sea. During these years, I had no cares, nothing bothered me much. Yet the fingers of life reached for me--soon I felt their chilling touch. I had lavished in the simple dreams the full tide brought my way. I never expected to experience life in any other way. The tide went out and life began, with mistakes I surely made. Years, they passed, and my futile attempts didn't halt the price I paid. Life's a lesson on the whole if we can view it that way, The rises and falls of the ocean waves are not just fun and play. This takes skill, 'tis no easy task, when waves suck you in depression's dark. Or the sharks that come for an early meal, and rip your world apart. Life is a training ground, and through each test we learn. To judge if we've passed the test is to watch for the tide's return. If we fail a lifetime test, we repeat 'til we get it right, Then when the tide returns, we can view all in a different light. Work hard for what we want in life, pray hard each and every day. Always help others along the sandy beach, for they might have lost the way. Live as loving beings of light for there's yet we have to learn, Our dreams will reveal destiny's truth and unfold with the tide's return. kvwriterI wrote this at midnight. Don't know what hit me, but I had to get it down. Forgive the errors and beat. I wrote fast and furious. Sorry. But, when they come, you know how it goes . . .
