To My Children(Contest Entry)
By kvwriter
To my Children I am simply delighted, children, at the warmth your presence brings, And I know life holds its best for you; so many wonderful things. But, remember, little ones, there will be tough times too. And when that wind tries to knock you down, I will hold on to you. As you grow, I will attempt to bring life's mysteries to light. And teach you that when the going gets rough, you've got to stand up and fight. Be a leader in all that you do, and help others who've lost the way. Don't give in when you know you're right, and never forget how to pray. Seek knowledge and wisdom in whatever you do, and to yourselves be true. Always remember to give of yourselves, it will always return to you. When you have grown and I can no longer protect you as I have done. Remember all I have taught you, and lean into the winds to come . . . By Kelly Varner Johnson Children are a gift, and I took their raising seriously, teaching them everything I knew and then some. I believe raising my children has been my greatest accomplishment in this life, and I have no regrets as to my role as a mother. Children are gifts; they're priceless. Raise them well, and understand that the role of motherhood or fatherhood is a lifetime committment. My daughter is married and in college. My son is serving in the war. They are, both, leaning into those gusty winds and doing well, but they always know that their momma is right beside them, every step of the way, and now, they too, are beside me. What a blessing!
