Teller of the Tale
By kvwriter
Teller of the Tale by Kelly Varner Johnson Her creative blood did flow through the arteries of her mind; The hero must be a valiant sort; the villain, most unkind. The computer screen beckoned; smoke from a keyboard burning, As she pounded the story into life and left her readers yearning. Her plot must wield a two-edged sword, conflict slicing strong, Be true to life with plenty of strife where everything goes wrong. The sequel gives her readers rest, allows them time for slack, Until the scene opens to announce, "The villain's comin' back!" Her characters live and breathe; they laugh and cry and fight. Some will survive the desert sun, yet fear the dark of night. The book poses a mystery, where the hero's undercover. Or a romance kisses each page, in turn, as the hero takes a lover. A western gallops across the prose, a posse on the go, Or a knight in shining armor will face his deadliest of foe. A fantasy rears its head with wizards, warlocks and such. Yet, an inspirational should breathe forth a book with a spiritual touch. A troubling vein must permeate this highly robust tale, To not just quake, but rattle and break, reading ten on the Richter scale. By Kelly Varner Johnson a.k.a. Kelly R. Stevens. (Check out my books through Amazon.com. Seven more on the way! Ouch! Love to you all!--Kelly--By the way, I came up with the pen-name years ago. My sister's name is Robin, hence the R., and my twin brother's name is Steven. All in the family. Lol!I live off my published novels, royalties and advances, as well as non-fiction articles on a variety of subjects. I've been published in numerous periodicals such as The Amarillo Globe, True West Magazine, Good Housekeeping, to name a few. I freelance on the side, which consists of copywriting, copyediting, PR work for companies and corporations as well as script and screenwriting editing, and more. I love to write fiction and poetry, my two absolute loves. As of now, I'm contracted to ghostwrite a book titled, "The Face of Pain," for a renowned Pain Specialist dealing with chronic pain issues and prevention measures to help others keep their necks and backs, basically all their bones and immune systems in good health so they don't develop debilitating problems down the road, problems that might lead to severe chronic pain. It's a very tedious project, but well worth the effort if it saves someone from suffering. Anyhow, be watching for "The Face of Pain" in a couple of years, and you might want to check out my other four fiction novels (Three are inspirational, one is mainstream sci-fi), contemporary, historical, and time-travel novels available thru Amazon.com under the pseudonym Kelly R. Stevens. All my fiction is in this name, but all my non-fiction is in my real name, Kelly Varner Johnson. Recently, I sold my young-adult time-travel which is available on American bookstands as well as foreign stands. Feature Films for Families had already shown a viable interest in this time-travel, which is the first in a series of four consecutive novels. By the way, "Ragdoll" is sold out. Sorry. I do tour with my novels, extensively, and I guest speak often for writer's groups, conferences, workshops, etc. I have to admit, in all honesty, that I'm most comfortable in my own little office, just putting my imagination to paper. I'm a bit of a loner, and have always loved writing, but I thought it would be a nice, peaceful occupation. Not so. The promotion aspects nearly drive me insane. Anyhow, that's a bit of background info., I haven't yet divulged to anyone, until now. But, please, please, remember, this does not make me an expert in poetry, so go easy on me. ;) I have to work at it like anybody else. And, I do welcome all your comments on my work and would love it if you'd check out some poems near the bottom of my author page as they hardly get any traffic, and I am interested in submitting some of these for publication and/or to give as gifts to those who might benefit from the message they each provide. Thanks to you all for your time and efforts and I'll be getting back with each and every one of you. There are some incredible poets here as well as talented writers who just need guidance, and I'm sincerely interested in helping anybody willing to put out the sweat, blood and tears necessary in this demanding occupation, as I only wish the best for all, and that includes success. I must also add that it feels incredibly wonderful to be around such talent as I've discovered here at Allpoetry. Hope you enjoy this write, and that it inspires you to, "Go for it!, just as I've done. Your efforts won't be wasted--trust me. Blessings to you all! Kelly (Sorry this bio is longer than the poem!)
