ART is in the EYE
By repomen79
Once upon a long gone day, My very best friend and I. Talked of where true passion lay. Until the sun had gone away. And looking back, I have to say, That art is in the eye. My friend is gone, those magic years, Have left and passed me by. Since then, I've cried my share of tears. In memory his vision clears. And though the young man disappears, Still, art is in the eye. Remember the lithuanian buriel ground? In the light of a sun down sky. The faces on urns, looking homeward bound? We walked our footsteps made no sound. How the golden light shone all around. You said, Art is in the eye. We gazed upon the future in the past. How everything is gold but has to die. And youth and friendship cannot last. The years go rushing by so fast. Our brush is small, the canvas vast, And art is in the eye. Unto us once, a shinning hour. Not needing reason why. That on our hearts do blessings shower. A lesser bit of a greater power. Thus bloom we, a fragile flower. For art is in the eye. God knows the secrets boys will tell, Or the way their young hearts fly. How laughter light rang like a bell. Before the dark of reason fell. Oh say the years have left you well. For art is in the eye. In memory I still hear you, As my golden years draw nigh. And hope you likewise cherish too. The freindship that we both once knew. For the years are long and friends are few. And art is in the eye. Yes, art is in the eye, You saw the truth my friend. The empty years go rolling by, I think of you and sometimes cry. Have joy my friend and never die. I'll love you to the end.Did you ever have a magical day that was so full of symbol and then unnoticed significance that you never forgot it? how it only seemed more magical and golden in memory. or a best friend who would talk of art and poetry, life and death all day as the sun traveled completely across the autumn sky? I did, and I,ve never forgotten so Gary Hamersly< this is for you my friend. Art was in the eye. Written January 31st, 2002 © on Jan 31 2002 10:10 AM PST, Patric Patterson 0 • 12
