I'll fly away
By repomen79
I do not think they like me here. Theres no love in their eyes. They wish that I would disappear. God knows my spirit tries. I love, but all my loves in vain. What dues do I now pay? I look about, and all is pain. I'd rather fly away. I see the people hurry on. Most keep their faces turned. The man I was is now long gone. My dreams have crashed and burned. These are the truths, that the bottle sooths. I'm a drunk but thats okay. I'm a hurtin man, who hopes he can, One day fly away. I raise my voice midst the cities noise. In a curse that turns to prayer. I lack the luxory of choice. Theres a million like me there. The ones who smell, like the back of hell. Who in the gutters lay. Who see the soul of you as well. And would rather fly away.when you look at desperation, It also looks back at you. Written December 26th, 2001 © on Dec 26 2001 02:20 PM PST, Patric Patterson 0 • 1
