Small Soldiers Prayer
By repomen79
Dear Lord let midnight rain obscure, The silent battle field. Let all men from this day be sure. No glory was revealed. What sin does man now need atone? My frightened heart does cry. We're only blood and flesh and bone. My Lord I question why? I wonder Just for what it stands. Does fortune fall from your wise hands? Somewhere dear Lord a mother weeps. Tears no man can dry. Upon this ground, her son now sleeps, A soldier just like I. The man on my left was torn apart. On my right, my best friend fell. The aweful pain within my heart. Is more than I can tell. Just yesterday he sang a song, As we marched the whole day long. Oh God in heaven comfort me, For death walks at my side. In the presence of the enemy, There is no place to hide. Grant peace unto this divided land. Lord sanctify our nation. Let me reach out for my brother's hand. And give him consolation. Let blue and gray be made as one. So that this horror might be done. Dear Lord I march toward the steel. Please make my concience clean. And help me through this sad ordeal. Dear Lord I'm just sixteen.C2000 After the whirlwind Written February 24th, 2002 © on Feb 23 2002 11:46 PM PST, Patric Patterson 0 • 1
