The Unknown Soldier
By repomen79
In the silent fields of the sleeping dead. Where the sacred fire burns. The tears of the brave are freely shed, When an unknown one returns. Beneath the green and rolling lawn, The unknown soldier carries on. Another life we didn't save, Beneath a grand and lonely grave, Another son who rose to go. Who's name his people do not know. His death a lonely sad affair. The unknown soldier does not care. We teach our children wrong from right. As God gives us to see the light. That wars the very worst of men, Yet we will ever fight again. Our vision is the rule of law. Thats what the unknown soldier saw. We reason with our enimies. And never open hostilities. But our sword is at our side, And our concience is our guide. Yet if the fuse begins to burn. The unknown soldier must return. So as we pass his sacred flame, We tell ourselves that in his name, We swear for now and evermore. Our children shall not study war. That in our time, the curse shall cease. And the unknown soldier rest in peace.C2000-After the whirlwind Written February 20th, 2002 © on Feb 20 2002 03:06 PM PST, Patric Patterson 0 • 1
