Wonken Tonka
By repomen79
Upon a land, once green and fair, Now concrete castles in disrepair. Fenced in, locked out, and badly used, Sweet Earth in this way sore abused. Upon a planet without cheer, Falls Wonken Tonka's bitter tear. Between the seas and endless plain, The ghost shirt comes to ride again. The red men see with doubting eyes, The truth behind the white mans lies. The smokes and fog that never clears. How bitter the great spirits tears The white man came with whiskey and he came with pretty charms. What he could not steal by treaty he would take with fire arms, In the stealth of his deception, and the cruelties of his powers, He would take without exception of this shinning land of ours. If in the absence of humility, his own extinction nears. The vanquished red nobility, will shed no bitter tears. By the reason of his justice, he is found to be unfit. In the season of his excess, he has badly injured it. In that his highways and his cities are a scar upon the land. They are people without pity that shall fall by their own hand. When the dream they have created, becomes their deepest fears Wonken Tonka has long awaited his time to dry their tears. For when the cities of the white men have all tumbled in decay. Maybe Wonken Tonka then can, recreate the shinning day. With their cities cast assunder, to rise again no more. Then the plains again will thunder, and the wild eagle soar. When the river runs again clean, and the skies are once more clear. The spirit of Wonken Tonka will again be welcomed here. But the white man Is tenacious, in the course of detiny. His God has been most gracious through out his history. What falls befor his left hand is built better by his right, Wonken Tonka does not command any favor in his sight. His courage has been proved, even as destruction nears. And his spirit is not moved by Wonken Tonka's tears. Now the earth and all its peoples, have been made manifest, In spirit all are equel, and all must face the test. The face of civilization, is the face of only men. Who have made themselves a nation, that the earth might shine again. The red man and the white man and the black alike, are dear. Wonken Tonka smile upon them for our shinning time is here..Wonken Tonka was the Siox (I believe)word for the Ginche manitou Or the great spirit.
