John woke up and poured himself a cup Cold stale brew The ideal way to wake up If there is a monkey wrench in the stew A quick stop at the library Need to find todays top story And revel in the rats almighty glory Newspaper; biggest source of the news Telling the stories Of how we are raped and abused Still sippin at his coffee as he flips through Page after page marking in red "Ideal America is Dead" He mutters in a low voice to the young librarian "And how do you know of this?" She asked "Because every American takes a chance We are walking on glass" It seemed as if he was marking only certain letters in red "Hidden messages can be found. If you look hard. Not close. Because if you look too close. You'll wind up dead" The young librarian rolled her eyes and went back to work She was a hollywood star who fell from the scene The irony of the situation was she never became famous As she was promised Just like she was promised the green The next day she went to her job And picked up todays story Headline on the frontpage: "Conspiracy Theorist Killed In A Battle that was Gory" And there was John's picture He looked too close.
