Journey By Campfire

An old man as old as the year Came to me one eve And warned me of a future near A grave prophecy he preached "Happiness in seclusion is what you seek Why else would you be in the night desert by fire If isolation was not your desire?" He had good points and views Showed me love could not be abused As the flames flickered And danced a wicked jig The answers could be found I just have to know where to dig He told me my quest had not even begun "Too you of age In time you will see the unison between moon and sun" The midnight air had a bite But I realized his words were right Seize the day or something along the lines Do not worry about the sands of time In time with wisdom The sands will pass and grow As the seeds of mankind will be sowed His words guided me into a state of sleep I awoke the next day With the rising sun The fire had died, but not inside My journey had just begunFor some odd reason something struck me when I was writing this in my notebook last night around the second stanza.
