Nights of Summer
By RiVeN
The midnight air blows across my face Too hot indoors so I sleep outside In this surreal place Opposite of my state of mind I do not wish to define the place or time The thoughts of when I dream Chalkboards that were once green They had their share of equations And vocabulary words But now as I lay here The only sounds are that of insects and birds I can't sleep I leave the back porch and take a seat on the grass As you join me Old friends talk and the time begins to pass Now I can rest Woken up an hour later Pitch black as the thunder roars The ones outside seek shelter indoors The night thunder and rain Is music to my ears As I think about past experiences And past years I look over to see if you're okay And see that you are As I now patiently await the coming dayBased on true story. Too long to type. But it took place last summer in Texas at a lakehouse. I slept on the backporch with some people and ended up talking to one of my good friends for a couple hours and then we became better friends. Later that night there was a huge thunder and lightening storm. Pretty cool Written February 23rd, 2002 © on Feb 23 2002 09:05 AM PST 0 • 10
