Egyptian Silk

A starlit sky, a warm desert wind The sound of a waterfall that was just around the bend She stood outside, Seregalm at her feet Deep in sleep and cooled from the day's heat The oasis had provided an attractive hide away Only the four of them, it had been the perfect day They walked and talked and laughed, it felt good She cried silent tears of joy where she stood A warm breeze blew from her feet to her head She smiled and cried harder, 'My Lord.' She said 'Yes, a perfect ay this has been for you' 'A needed break, but this day is not through.' He gently held her, caressed her hair and sighed She smiled again and slowly closed her eyes He held her a while under the Egyptian night sky And when he left her, she did not cry Gently moving inside the tent so as not to wake Quietly laughing as she shooed off a snake She snuggled next to her youngest, lightly kissing her cheek 'I love you, mum' She heard her youngest speak 'I love you, too.' She quietly replied and began stroking her hair For the first time in lifetimes, she thought not a care She held her close as her daughter went to sleep Asking the Gods, hold her daughters and safe to keep She stroked her hair, smiled and laid her head down The day finished without fear or a frown Bathed in scented waters, of jasmine and milk Her youngests hair was that of Egyptian Silk.Part III Written February 15th, 2002 © on Feb 15 2002 11:29 AM PST   18 • 0 • 10
