Falling Beauty

By Egypt

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

A silence falls over the bustling city Everything turning to glistening white Amazed at the beauty of even a fire hydrant She stands at the door holding her cat ~>^^< meow!~ The city comes to a standstill No noise, no sirens, nothing But a wonder filled silence The first Winter Storm finally hits The magick of the evening Quiet and warm Full Moon above the clouds Would cast a beautiful and eerie glow Ice pelts the ground, soon snow will start to fall She realizes she has begun the final stage of life Once loving summer, she now sees the beauty of winter From Mother to Crone No streaks of gray dance in her hair No lines or wrinkles on her supple skin Her spirit is what has aged And she welcomes it with loving arms Taking the kitty ~>^^< meow!~ away from the door She goes to the kitchen and fixes warm apple cider She takes her favorite chair to the open door And wraps them both in a blanket, and watches the beauty continue to fall.Oh damn, I just showed my age in that one. Anybody got a sled I can use? Gotta take my sister's labradors out to play tomorrow! Written January 29th, 2002 © on Jan 29 2002 12:39 PM PST   18 • 0 • 10
