Mother's Sacrifice Part II

By Egypt

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

When she woke that morning, she found her mother outside looking to the sky Quietly, so as not to disturb her sister, she slipped gently by Tiptoeing outside, she stood by her mother and kissed her hand She smiled as her mother kissed her forehead then looked out at the sands 'What is troubling you, mother?' She looked into her mother's eyes 'Trust your mother, all is well' She smiled and then sighed She looked once more to the sky But deep down, she knew her mother lied As she and her sister studied and prayed later that day She stopped dead, the cold chill in her bones had decided to stay She left her sister and walked to the window in hope to see Her mother praying, on bended knee Her mother was nowhere to be found much to her dismay She did all she could, to keep her fears at bay Panicked and frightened, she rushed outside A storm had quickly built and intensified She looked to the hill and let out a scream Wishing what she had saw, was nothing more than a dream Sitting on the hill, her mother on bended knees Screaming to the one standing above her, to do as she pleased She ran towards her mother, her robes soaked thru Hoping to stop it, hoping to undo She looked at the Goddess who had done this deed She fell to her knees at her mother's side and began to plead 'Don't take my mother, don't you dare!' ~She has wished for peace and protection for you~ 'Whatever she has done, remove it, I declare!!' ~She has sacrificed her soul, now it is in my hands to do~ 'I am commanding you to release my mother, let her live!' ~It has been done, it's set in motion~ 'Give me my mother back! Don't take her from me!' They stand in silence, the rain continuing to fall Standing next to the Goddess, she felt so small Lightning spiderwebbed across the sky Her fleeting thoughts were that her mother would die The Goddess slowly began to vanish from sight She hears her mother groan, drops to her knees and holds her tight 'I did it for you, for your sister, why did you stop me?' 'I love you, mother, we need you, can't you see?' Her mother nods and begins to shiver from the rain She helped her stand, knowing she must be in pain They walked down the hill as her sister flew out the door The sight of her mother's pale face chilled her to the core They took her in and laid her in bed Her sister whispered 'surely, she's dead' 'She's not, Thank the Gods, I stopped it in time' She grabbed her sister and held her, then sighed.
