Seregalm

By Egypt

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

The bluejay sang and the ducks marked her way She smiled as she came upon it, her first smile in days A sturdy bridge of iron and wood and painted red She walked to the middle as a vision filled her head She closed her eyes as she faced the Sun She saw her oldest and her tiger, both at a dead run Up on the bridge, they stopped in front of her Both of them breathless, she reached down to stroke the cat's fur 'You both are growing strong.' Her vision self said The tiger quietly roared and jumped from the bridge painted red She hit the water and gracefully swam this way and that Her oldest bowed and hugged her 'We wondered where you were at?' 'Seregalm found you.' With a nod. 'Your scent.' 'She paced, she cried, then ran from our tent.' Her vision self smiled as she continued to watch the cat 'With her always around, you'll never worry where I'm at.' Raised from a kitten, Seregalm was her animal mate Her guard, her love, her pet - she was fate A gift, she was, a gift so rare and sweet Her presence had brought to their lives, an unexpected treat They laughed as they watched Seregalm play Pouncing and splashing, in the heat of the day Seregalm stopped, looked at her oldest and offered a soft bleat 'Go.' She said to her daughter. 'Quench yourself from this Egyptian heat.' Her oldest smiled, walked to the edge and cried 'Seregalm, here I come!' Laughed, then took a dive Her vision self laughed, what a sight they had made Standing on the bridge, she smiled as they played.Part II Written February 15th, 2002 © on Feb 15 2002 11:10 AM PST   18 • 0 • 10
